I remember the artists Gilbert and George telling me that they always read negative reviews as it was 'character building.' Hides like rhinos, those lads!
Soooo fascinating to see how your mind works! Thanks for sharing - and always remember, you're only responsible for your own thoughts and emotions, not the other person's. Who's to say that someone who negatively critiques something you did/wrote/produced didn't have a bad burrito for lunch before commenting?!!
LOL Remy. A few weeks ago I had a subscriber write to me a long laundry list of criticisms they had about my work. Beneath the facade of the criticisms, though, this person took absolutely zero responsibility for their success and was trying to just put all the blame on me as his "teacher." A friend of mine said something interesting to me a while back "Successful people don't have time to be overly critical." Critical, sure, but critical to the point that you're spending more than 30 minutes writing an email to someone to tell them all the stuff they can do better? Yeah, no, successful people don't have time for that. Thanks for liking my Note the other day. I'm subscribing.
Is the heart beating? Straight to the morgue!! This made me laugh out loud.
It took me several months to realize that anyone’s reactions to your writing rests solely on their shoulders, not yours. This reiterates it. Thanks for sharing!!
I don’t seem to see “Start cycle of self doubt and loathing, expressed through hair-trigger reaction to normal life irritations, which feed back into reasons why you obviously suck as a human in general.”
You are putting too much stock in others. I am perhaps many decades older than you and I simply do not care what critics may say, except for the rare few. I would suggest you attend to your own self-improvement than flow-charting how one might handle the unimportant views of strangers. Most criticism tells more about the critic than the work criticized. Only very rarely have I ever read criticism that is on the mark about the work.
Richard, you won't stop me from flow-charting physical violence against constructive criticism. It is therapeutic. And I'm not putting stock in others, I'm putting punches. If it's not clear from this humorous chart that it's been a long time that I am extremely careful about who I listen to, then I have truly failed you all!
My suggestions are (i) share it with someone you love. If they love you, they will be outraged, and savage the critic on your behalf; (ii) remind yourself that all criticism is entirely subjective, and what do they know? (iii) Drink. Forgive a little. But never forget.

You bet. Thanks for reading Paul!

Ohh I hope they did Bob. I hope they did...

You're welcome 🙌
HILARIOUS. Might blow that graphic up, print it, and stick it on the wall in my writing office.
Thanks Jan 🙌
Trop drôle/too funny! Maybe a regard glacé weapon of frappe de precision post could be added?!
Oh yeahhh
Though most of the comments I receive are supportive, negative comments come every once in a while.
A few months ago, someone commented, "It's really bad, you should quit right now, you ruined my day."
Okay, my work might be bad... but at least don't say that 😅
Did you make this Remy?
A couple branchpoints stand out to me.
Is it actionable? And if No, then I stop there!!

hahaha
As someone who also likes flowcharts to an unhealthy degree, I approve of this application.
Also - the dig at US health care was 👌
Ha! Thanks Robin!
Hmm, je ne sais quoi! I think you could simplify… oh never mind 🤣
lol
Holy moly what an effective chart
Ha! Thanks
I love how Living in Europe always leads to Happiness and not having health Insurance leads automatically to the Morgue, lol.
lol

I did not see anything humorous in the flow chart.
Well let me classify this feedback according to my flow chart then.
I think you’re having me on. Why, I’m not sure, but let’s leave it at that, shall we?
I think we can agree on this, yes.
To the morgue it is.
Definitely to the morgue.
effusive praise is key! I actually wrote a poem about this "is effusive praise required, to know that I'm desired?"
