As a recovery addict myself (that was just booze, right? buying records and CDs are an investment), an addictions counsellor and a casual observer, I can honestly tell you that this hits 5 of the 5 stages of approval. Well done.

Beautifully clear in its simplicity, especially in the stages where the cobwebs obstruct understanding.

Eloquent. A prose poem. Seems this should also have a home in one of the more well-read literary mags.

This is a fantastic exercise in bringing broad and curious narrative descriptions to the meaning of words. Inspires me to do this with other groups and terms. Thanks, Remy!

I always love these “stages” poems. I say poems because they read like poems. I can’t pick my favourite line. Too good. Encore!

This is powerful and beautifully written. You've captured the essence of each stage in the cycle of addiction and recovery with vivid descriptions and metaphors. It's clear that a lot of thought and understanding went into this.

Especially love the way you portray relapse not as a defeat, but as a "rallying cry." And enlightenment as the ultimate guidepost.

This is a piece that could offer hope and inspiration to anyone battling addiction.

I wanted to know your thoughts on this: do you think there is such thing as a “good” addiction?

Such an interesting question. Worth an entire post to be honest. I need to think about that one.

Jumping in here: my favorite of all my addictions is Workaholic. Cause you get $$. And you MIGHT (finally) get some Respect. But it's never enough...like all addictions...
