Hi and welcome,
I’m Remy, an award-winning writer/director waving frantically from the edges of the film industry.
In a bid to counter my natural and somewhat pathological misanthropy, I've tasked myself with connecting with people online through this blog. To my greatest surprise, it's turned out quite well and has become rather therapeutic.
In these columns, you’ll find my musings as an independent filmmaker, but also my oscillations between idealism and cynicism as I strive to be a decent human being.
A man of extremes, I’m drawn to contrasts: extreme highs and lows, intense emotions, addictions, and a deep sense of the absurd, the farcical, the sublime...
I would be delighted to connect with you too and share thoughts on writing, filmmaking, spleening, or whatever-else-ing we can think of together, so get in touch!
I’m usually working on a screenplay or two, but in this blog you will mostly find:
Musings about the absurdity of existence.
Attempts to deal with the above.
Quirky takes on mental health issues.
Visual analysis of film scenes that I admire.
A dose of quirky French expressions.
Interviews I conduct with writers I love.
A bunch of updates about my work.
What you will not find, however, is:
Film reviews
Motivational posts (I see myself as a positive demotivator).
Spammings about my career.
Anything political.
Self-pitying essays.
I do have the paid option enabled, and I’m always deeply touched when someone decides to support me and my work, but I don’t paywall anything. My primary motivation is not money but finding a sliver of togetherness through writing. Although, as an independent filmmaker, paid subscribers enable me to dedicate more time to this publication.

If you want to know more about my career here is my bio and a few of my works.
My Bio
A storyteller fluent in both film and ink, I studied at the National Film and Television School in the UK. My work has been screened at international festivals like Flickerfest, Raindance, and the London Film Festival. I've been supported by institutions like the BFI, Film London, and Creative England, and I've earned a Vimeo Staff Pick and a win at the Firefox Flicks competition during the 65th Cannes Film Festival.
My Portfolio
(I need to make posts for each of these to give a bit more context, but here goes.)
What! No self pitying or self promotion! I'm outraged.
Ahh hell yeah. Thanks for the re-introduction, Remy, I’ve been curious about your film work, I’ll check some of these out later!
