Remy, Thank you for such an enlightened, pertinent, intelligent and funny post. I agree with you, but I think that aliens arriving on the planet would have the ability to realise that we are still quite primitive and dominated by unconscious factors, but that we have enormous potential. So if the aliens weren't some kind of octopus or crab, I think they would re-educate us and then collaborate with us. In exchange for education and state-of-the-art technology, we would give them our potential for imagination, creativity and intelligence, which today, due to the fact that in terms of cosmic time we are barely out of the caves, is still very underutilised. Perhaps they could use it to generate hybrids.
By the way, do aliens know how to create and appreciate art?
I am sure they can. The earth is a piece of art, as is the galaxy and universe. It is definitely data we can hope for from them. They may not be aware of it but they too are an artful technology as humans...
I love your style! This piece crescendos from pianissimo to double forte, a big idea (life or death, heaven or hell) treated lightly and tenderly until the cymbals crash (motherfucker!). The Substack motif is ingenious--indicting all of us on this new asteroid in digital outer space for sillily thinking we made it to shore. Bravo! A great, great read.
Maybe we think too highly of ourselves and the reason the aliens haven't made contact is because they see more interesting and less dangerous life forms elsewhere so they pass earth 😂 only Hollywood screenwriters keep sending aliens to Earth 🌎
This is a fascinating post and a very enjoyable light reading. Think aliens would think of earth as a no-go zone. Whatever would they think of us with our masks in past years and weird practices in different parts of the world? If they could fly to earth which they very well could, think we are just experimental objects to them. HAHA. X
I'm remided of so many great stories and novels, about what aliens might do if they come..or if they're actually here..or if we're aliens ourselves somewhere else..
Thank you for the laugh, Remy!
PS "Despasito" (whatever it is; I don;t know one song from that list) and gulags usually take turns.
So funny. I think it's hilarious that we think aliens even care so much about us when they have so many other possible places to be. I wrote an alien trilogy and had fun with thinking along the same lines though I love how far you've taken this (Unimpressed, yes!). This is the sad existential note I ended on: https://sleepyhollowink.substack.com/p/alien-other
The Man Who Fell to Earth depicts an alien coming to Earth to find water, using what he knows from _radio_ and _television_ signals as to Earth culture. Look to what we broadcast and what reaches the furthest communication signals in space for aliens' first looks at us. It's unlikely to be 'the most streamed' music but the most radio played, despite the fact that more humans stream than listen to the radio.
On that note the aliens would mostly think we most value the Superbowl, M*A*S*H*, and Seinfeld.
(The other part of the description I listed was 'to find water.' Despite The Man Who Fell to Earth and District 9, very few movies acknowledge that a more probably reason extraterrestrials would come to earth would be as refugees.)
Such a fun read every time! I don't know why they have not noticed us even for our inconsistencies and humanity, if they have we are still under observation. Once we are worth the talk we might realize they have always been there on the radar ✨️
We have a lot to be noticed for: painters, writers, speakers, investors... everyday heroes.
I’m just trolling, Stoke-on-Trent is really jolly (it’s not). It’s just a good old grey, uneventful, dull town in the English midlands. I could have said Slough or Blackpool :)
Here’s what I don't understand: If aliens are so advanced, why do they keep crashing into Earth? 🤔
They have no problem at all flying through hostile space and avoiding accidents with meteors, but when they get here BOOM! 💥 💥💥 Lol! 🤣

Maybe they will LOVE Ed Sheeran. Maybe we should broadcast Ed Sheeran to the confines of the universe and hope for the best?
Maybe. Or send a ship ahead with peace treat 😀

Thx Terry 🙌🙌
The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Cristiano Ronaldo, Baby Shark, Luis Fonsi, and Mr Bean is the guest list of a dinner party in the worst fever dream ever.
And an alien overlord ;)

True, their true fans 📹

Thanks Sleepy. Should I call you sleepy?
Krista is the real person hiding behind that :)
Just caught up with this article. That was some of the most fun I've had while laughing! Thanks for making my day.
That's nice to hear!
29 of 46 US Presidents had a military background. Both Presidents Bush were trained pilots. It would be fun to see Dubya fighting aliens😏
These ones were flashing their light ships: https://rumble.com/v1dy3k5-multiple-ufos-over-eceti-july-242022.html
Gulag or Despacito? Gulag or Despacito? That is the question! That was hilarious.
The comparison images of “our leaders” took me out 💀😂

Any pull towards parallel worlds?
Call me ignorant, why is Stoke on Trent a no-go zone?
